Dr. Karan Singh is a distinguished statesman, philosopher, and author, known for his exceptional contributions to India’s cultural and political landscape. He served as regent, Sadar-i-Riyasat, and Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, and has held key portfolios in tourism, civil aviation, health, family planning, and education and culture. A Padma Vibhushan awardee, Dr. Singh also served as India’s Ambassador to the United States.
While his political career is widely recognized, Dr. Singh has also nurtured a deep literary sensibility, often unknown to the public. He composes and recites devotional songs in Dogri and is a connoisseur of Indian classical music. His literary works include Reflections (his autobiography), Triveni, and a comprehensive collection of his correspondence with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru from 1949-1964.
